Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, stepped out for a solo royal engagement on Monday, having recently returned to work following the Covid-19 lockdown. The 72-year-old spent the day in the English town of Swindon yesterday as she met with groups of essential workers who have been on the frontline throughout the ongoing pandemic.

The Duchess of Cornwall today visited @swindonboroughcouncil to hear about how staff, volunteers and residents have been coping during the pandemic,” a statement shared on the official Clarence House Instagram page read.

“Supported by a network of volunteers, the Council’s Live Well Hub helps isolated residents in the community. Over 8000 welfare telephone calls have been made and Her Royal Highness today packed the hub’s 1000th food parcel, which will be sent to a vulnerable resident with no family support.”

Camilla, who spent much of the Covid-19 lockdown in Scotland with Prince Charles, also met with firefighters from Swindon Fire Station earlier in the day, as well as staff from Great Western Hospital and South Western Ambulance service paramedics.

The duchess wore a smart navy blue frock for the outing, which featured a bold geometric print and a contrasting white collar. Camilla paired the dress with a pair of her trusty beige court shoes and carried a cream scarf with her, no doubt to protect against the unpredictable British weather.

Fans praised Camilla following the outing, with many sharing their support for the duchess on social media. One royal watcher wrote: “Looked like a lovely day. I’m so glad to see the Duchess out on engagements again.”

Another said: “I just love camilla. I wrote to her and she sent me a handwritten note. She has been through hell to be with her soul mate and she is a very strong lady.” While another commented: “Wow she looks so beautiful and happy!”

However Camilla isn’t the only member of the British firm to have stepped out this week and her stunning frock reminded us of another royal – as her navy dress with contrasting white collar looks strikingly similar to the dress donned by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, over the weekend.

Catherine looked sensational on Sunday as she stepped out wearing a stunning navy blue silk dress, which featured a striking diamond pattern and eye-catching white cuffs and a collar. The stylish frock tied at the waist with a simple belt and the duchess completed the look with a pair of suede navy stilettos and classic gold and pearl earrings.

The Duchess of Cambridge teamed up with husband Prince William for the couple’s first joint, in-person engagement since the UK went into lockdown in March, as the couple visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn. Their outing was in honour of the NHS’s 72nd birthday on Sunday.

The last time we saw them together for official duties – excluding virtual appearances – was almost four months ago, when they visited the London Ambulance Service 111 control room and met staff who had been taking NHS 111 calls from the public amid the emerging pandemic.
