William and Harry step out with their dad for momentous occasion

The two princes spent a day out with dad.

In a rare display of royal succession, Prince Charles has stepped out for a special day with his sons William and Harry.

The three royals donned their Sunday best to mark the centenary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France.

They were joined by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau along with French President Francois Hollande.

Both Prince William and Harry looked sombre as they honoured the fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the World War 1 battle.

As former military men themselves, the princes seemed moved by the occasion as they each lay a wreath and paid their respects.

It’s not often the royal men step out as just the three of them and despite the sombre day, they found a few moments to share a laugh together.

Charles gave a moving speech at the ceremony, saying the Battle of Vimy Ridge showed the best British and Canadian friendship.

“Canadians displayed a strength of character and commitment to one another that is still evident today. They did not waver,” he said.

“This was Canada at its best; the Canadians at Vimy embodied the ‘True North Strong and Free’.”

Kensington Palace shared a photo from the day on their social media, saying: “The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, accompanying The Prince of Wales, today attended the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France. Their Royal Highnesses were joined by the Governor General of Canada, the President of France François Hollande and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.”
