What Waleed Aly found in his backyard left him ‘freaking out’

It might just be a sad sign of the times or a disturbing new trend. In a segment on Network Ten’s The Project, the panel was interviewing a woman who was having a skinny dip in her backyard pool when she discovered a drone was watching her.

Drones can be very quiet and are capable or recording high definition video and can also stream it straight to the internet. It would be an invasion of privacy that would shock most. Host Waleed Aly shared his open story of finding one of these hovering invaders at his home.

Waleed shared, “I went through this same thing — without the skinny-dipping, I should point out”.  He continued, “It was there for, like, minutes and I didn’t know what to do.”

In the house was his wife and two young children and he thought of their safety.  He said, “I was freaking out. I was scared. I didn’t know if someone was casing the joint or, like, it was a pap thing. I had no idea.”  He added, “There was just utter confusion. Who could it be? Why? It was a bewildering experience, really”.

Seven’s Sunrise host Samantha Armytage had a similar experience not too long ago and shared a picture of the drone over Instagram, posting she hoped that any gossip mag that showed the pictures “had better be prepared for a fight” and added that she was “Fed up with this rubbish.”

What could be done about drones? Is this just something that some people will have to deal with if they are in the public eye?
