Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has lashed out at the Royal family, claiming they have not contacted him since he gave a tell-all interview with Good Morning Britain last week.

The 73-year-old, who wasn’t present for his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry and is yet to meet any of the royals, has detailed his frustrations with his daughter’s new family to gossip website TMZ. In an exclusive interview, he said he felt as though he was being put in a “penalty box” and isn’t happy that the Queen is set to meet US president Donald Trump before him.

“If the Queen is willing to meet our arrogant, ignorant, and insensitive president she has no excuse not to meet me,” he said. “I’m nowhere near as bad.”

Trump is expected to travel to the United Kingdom on July 13, where it is reported he will meet with the Queen herself at Windsor Castle. According to Newscorp, Markle pocketed a cool $13,000 for his interview with Good Morning Britain and believes this is now why he’s been cut off from his daughter and the royals. There is no word yet on when Markle plans to visit his daughter, although he said he has every intention to.

Speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain last week, where he said he was “honoured” that Prince Charles walked Meghan down the aisle when he couldn’t make it because of a heart attack he’d suffered.

“I can’t think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles,” he said. “It might have been a treat for him as well because he didn’t have a daughter.”

He’d also explained how Prince Harry told him to give the US president a chance.

“Our conversation was, I was complaining about not liking Donald Trump, he said ‘give Donald Trump a chance’. I sort of disagreed with that,” he explained.

During the interview, he also said the royals were “very complicated” and said his daughter “can always rise to that occasion”.

“My daughter is capable of anything and she will be a compliment to the royal family,” he told the hosts.

The interview isn’t the only time Markle has been caught in a tricky situation. He was caught staging paparazzi photos in the lead up to Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding. While the palace initially pleaded with media outlets to leave Markle alone, leaked photos showed the 73-year-old talking with the photographer beforehand and setting up the photos.
