The Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall has given birth to a baby girl, Buckingham Palace announced.

The 37-year-old, and her husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall, welcomed their new daughter into the world on Monday at Stroud Maternity Unit, weighing 4.2 kilograms.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the palace said in a statement.

“The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.”

The baby is a second child for Zara and Mike, whose elder daughter Mia is four. She is the fourth grandchild for Princess Anne, the seven great-grandchild of the Queen, 92, and her husband Prince Philip, 97, and second cousin to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips. She’s an accomplished equestrian who won a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012.

Zara’s pregnancy was announced in January after the couple suffered a miscarriage in 2016.

The baby’s birth follows a string of happy occurrence for the royal family, including the birth of Prince Louis, the third child of Prince William and Catherine, in April.
