Prince George arrives at first day of school, hand in hand with dad

Prince George arrives at school with dad Prince William.

Prince William has just done what most parents dread (or look forward to, depending on your kids). Kensington Palace has shared a video of William dropping off little Prince George for his first day of school and it’s utterly adorable.

The sweet video shows George clinging to his dad’s hand as the pair are met by the Head of the Lower School at Thomas’s Battersea in London.

Doting dad, William, can be seen talking to George as they approach the door, with the little one rubbing his eyes, no doubt a little teary about having to leave mum and dad for the first time.

He was met with a smile by the Head of the Lower School and reluctantly shook her hand, perhaps realising that he was about to be sentenced to 12 years of classroom schooling!

Kensington Palace wrote a short note to accompany the video.

“This morning Prince George, accompanied by The Duke of Cambridge, attended his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea in London,” they said. “Their Royal Highnesses were met by the Head of Lower School on arrival, before The Duke took Prince George inside to his reception classroom.”

The little prince’s first trip to school tops off a big week for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who announced on Monday they are expecting their third child.

Catherine is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness, as she did with her first two pregnancies. She has had to cancel all offical engagements, which explains her absence from George’s first day at school.

George’s new school has been attracting plenty of attention ever since the royals announced he would be attending Thomas’s Battersea in south London.

The prestigious co-ed prep school commands £6,000 a term and is heavily focussed on creative activities and learning the school’s code of core values, which include courtesy, confidence, humility, and learning to be givers, not takers.
