Traditional baby names are becoming a thing of the past as modern parents strive to try and choose unique names for their precious offspring.

It was recently revealed that ‘bogan’ names are on the up in Australia, with the most popular bogan names for 2018 being Astoria, for a girl, and Aaydne, for a boy.

But it appears the trend has made it across the Atlantic as one mum, from Utah, USA, went viral after she shared a list of all of the “dumb” kids names from her son’s yearbook on Twitter.

Allison Czarnecki wrote: “I’m too tired to sleep so I’m going to tweet out the dumbest Utah names from my son’s Junior High yearbook. Buckle up.”

The long list of weird and wonderful names included some very strange choices, some of which include Ashtian, Swayzie, Ryker and Keyairaa.

But the thread also featured some more traditional names that had been given a modern twist by mixing up the spellings, such as Alyxandrya, Zoie and Maddyson.

Some of the names include: “Preslee. Madolin. Kolten. Atylee. Mekeli. Paityn. Kyson. Taeber. Saydee. Makinlee. Haleigh. Braylin. Syrie. Madisyn. Kirtlyn.

“Kelldrix. Kaydenz. Taeg. Macee. Jazmyne. Questin. Katharin. Remington. Shaelynn. Jordyn. Jadyn. Macilynne. Kayleigh. Kayson.

“Jaidyn. Tayson. Maddyson. Bayli. Kaydee. Madyson. Madysen. Rylei. Braelyn. Micaylee. Ashlynn. Braxton. Dezalin. Dreyasin. (The last two are twins.)”

Allison, a writer, said: “These are legit 100% real names straight from the yearbook.”

She also revealed that she had saved the best for last, and picked Feleyca and Cinch as her “hands down” favourites.

Earlier this year, baby naming website Namely revealed their list of top searches.

They found that classic names that you probably grew up with including Cora, Hazel, Esme, Nora, Sadie, Willa, Saskia and Evangeline were most popular for girls.

For boys, Atticus, Jack, Ezra, Theodore and Magnus came out on top.

What do you think? Do your children or grandchildren have less traditional names?
