Lisa Wilkinson pens heart-warming dedication to Leigh Sales

The pair caught up for lunch this week.

Now that Today co-host Lisa Wilkinson is back in Australia after a whirlwind European holiday, she’s not wasting any time.

Wilkinson met up with ABC presenter Leigh Sales for lunch on Friday and posted a truly touching tribute to their friendship on Instagram.

The black-and-white photo of the two was taken in a busy restaurant. Arms around each other and smiling sweetly at the camera, they look just like any other long-time friends catching up over lunch.

Friday lunch. So honoured to call this ridiculously talented singer/pianist/podcaster/journo/legend my friend. “So honoured to call this ridiculously talented singer/pianist/podcaster/journo/legend my friend,” Wilkinson captioned the image.

Her praise for Sales doesn’t end at a prodigious list of her talents.

“She even cut up my main course for me and my busted hand without skipping a beat!” Wilkinson continued.

Her “busted hand” was a result of an unlucky stumble in a wet bathroom while on holiday. After breaking two bones, Wilkinson confirmed she would have to undergo surgery and is still sporting a hefty cast.

Sales’s quick thinking and kind instincts are no doubt an extension of motherly love, as she has two children with husband Phil Willis, from whom she split earlier this year after two decades of marriage.

Sales shared the photo on her own social media accounts as well.
