A bunch of flowers from the servo was never going to cut it after reports of an affair with a porn star broke last month, so it’s probably no surprise that US President Donald Trump has gone all out to celebrate wife Melania’s birthday.
In an apparent attempt to please a first lady who has everything, plus pick up some donations, Trump sent an email to supporters of his Trump Make America Great Again supporters group, writing in the subject line, “My better half”, Newsweek reported.
In the email, which was sent on Sunday, Trump called Melania, his wife of 13 years, “BEAUTIFUL, kind-hearted and exceptional” and called on supporters to help celebrate her 48th birthday on April 26 by signing a card for her.
“Melania is my rock and foundation, and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without her by my side,” the president wrote in the email. “She’s the cornerstone of our family, and an incredible mother to our son, Barron. I’m so proud of her accomplishments, and I hope you’ll wish her well on her special day.”
The email then linked to a website where well-wishers could leave birthday messages for “our elegant and beautiful First Lady”, and apparently pledge donations to Make America Great Again.

Some twitter users were quick to get into the loving spirit, wishing Mrs Trump many happy returns. “Happy Birthday Melania. May God bless you on this special day,” one wrote, while another added, “Happy Birthday to our beautiful 1st lady. You’re an inspiration to women.”
But not everyone had entirely happy wishes for America’s ‘first family’, with one user saying, “HB Melania. Hope ur husband stops cheating on you”, while another wrote, “Your husband is a disgrace to the country. Hope you have a Happy Birthday”.

Trump’s gushing email to supporters comes as the media covers every move made by Stephanie Clifford, an adult entertainment star who performs under the name Stormy Daniels.
Daniels has sued 71-year-old Trump for release from a gagging contract, so she can speak about allegations that she had an affair with Trump in 2006, a year after he married Melania. The porn star was reportedly paid US$130,000 (AU$166,000) in hush money and forced to sign a document under the alias ‘Peggy Peterson’ that forced her to keep quiet about the year-long relationship.
Trump himself has denied knowing about the payoff made to Daniels by his lawyer Michael Cohen, while White House spokespeople have denied that he had an affair with Daniels, although the president has not issued a personal denial on those claims. Cohen, the lawyer, is currently also having his business probed by a New York Court this week, with Daniels attending the hearings.
