Sir Rod Stewart is known for his daring style, and it seems his wild taste has translated into his home. Leopard print cushions and gold side tables are just some of the lavish items the ‘Maggie May’ singer is selling.

Rod and his wife Penny Lancaster are giving up items from their stunning Essex mansion – which according to multiple new outlets is worth $8 million (£4.65 million) – as they prepare to sell up and downsize, after they first bought it in 2013.

The 60-plus items in the singer’s clear out are likely to sell for more than $70,000. They include a pair of glitz bronze-mounted side tables with glass tops at $5,300 and a pair of 19th century pier mirrors estimated at the same price.

The lavish collection is from the mansion owned by Rod and Penny which they reportedly renovated extensively before moving in. Its bedrooms date back to 1712 and overlook a lake set in 46 acres of pastures and ancient woodland. The property has a swimming pool and four self-contained cottages.

The collection is being sold by auction house Sworders, of Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. According to The Daily Mail, the star is believed to be having a clear out of the property, which he is looking to sell, so he can purchase another home elsewhere in an attempt to downsize.

He wore a floral shirt and a clashing jacket for the occasion, which he paired with Gucci floral fur-lined loafers, which retail for US$940 (A$1,242, £700).
