Home and Away star Jessica Falkholt is fighting for her life following a deadly car crash on New South Wales’ South Coast.
The 28-year-old is best known for playing Hope Morrison on the long-running Australian soap.
ABC News reports that the tragic accident took place on Boxing Day and claimed the lives of three people, including both her parents.
A 50-year-old man in the other vehicle also passed away, while Falkholt’s 21-year-old sister also remains in a critical condition.
It is reported that one of the cars was driving on the wrong side of the road, causing the accident.
Both sisters remain at separate hospitals, with their family by their side.
New South Wales police have now issued a warning to drivers about fatigue and complacency on the roads.
In fact, New South Wales Chief Inspector Phil Brooks told ABC News that 11 deaths were caused when cars drove off the road.
“More than half of these have involved single vehicle run-offs either into a tree or a telegraph pole — sadly killing that driver and/or their passenger — which is an indicator to us that fatigue is the most likely outcome in these very sad and tragic events this close to Christmas,” he told ABC News.
The Home and Away Facebook page shared an update earlier this morning, simply saying: “Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt and her sister are still clinging to life after a horrific Boxing Day crash that killed both of their parents.”
Fans have taken to social media to send their well wishes to Jessica.
One person wrote: “This is sad sending prayers to Jessica Falkholt and her sister hoping they are feeling better soon.”
Another fan said: “Thinking of actress Jessica Falkholt and her sister who were severely injured in the horrific Boxing Day car accident on the Princes Highway which killed their parents.”
A third message read: “Terribly sad news. Thoughts and prayers with #HomeAndAway actress Jessica Falkholt (she played Hope Morrison) and her sister Annabelle.”
