Travel-loving Aussies have been cooped up inside for some time now, with tight restrictions in parts of the country preventing most adventures from taking place. But all this time in self-isolation has given people the chance to daydream about future holidays and plan where they would like to explore when finally given the all-clear.

From short getaways to small towns around the country, to cruises off the shore of Australia and group tours – your bucket list is no doubt growing by the minute. And Travel at 60 has some more ideas for you to add to that list, with deals available for later this year and into 2021.

The call centre team is still booking getaways for Aussies and there’s been a few standouts of late, including a stay on Lady Elliot Island off the coast of Queensland and a cruise from Brisbane which is dedicated to the one and only Elvis Presley. This could give you some inspiration!

Lady Elliot Island getaway

For all the nature-lovers out there, Lady Elliot Island is the perfect destination. The island lies off the coast of Queensland at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef and is home to an abundance of wildlife, including manta rays and turtles.

In the waters around Lady Elliot Island you’ll find many manta rays.

You could start 2021 on a high with a holiday to this beautiful island and stay in a gorgeous eco-cabin. Right now there’s a great deal available where you can stay for five nights and pay for only four. You’ll receive breakfast and dinner each day, access to snorkel equipment to explore the reef, select island activities and turtle nesting and hatchling tours (from November to April).

Scenic flights to Lady Elliot Island depart daily from the Gold Coast, Brisbane (Redcliffe), Hervey Bay and Bundaberg.

Marvellous Murray River tour

While many people tend to head north for their holidays, the southern part of Australia also offers incredible experiences and spectacular scenery. And next year the Travel at 60 community is set to explore part of this area with a holiday in South Australia.

You could join a group of travel-loving over-60s on a seven-night tour, which includes a cruise on the Murray River onboard a historic paddlewheeler, a visit to the Barossa Valley where you can taste delicious food and wine, and a stay in Adelaide. Select meals, activities and tours are included in this fantastic holiday package and you’re sure to make some great friends along the way!

Tribute to ‘the king’ cruise

Are you an Elvis fan? Well, you could combine your love of ‘the king’ with a holiday! Next year there’s a special cruise departing from Brisbane and it revolves all around the life of Elvis and his incredible music. The five-night trip includes themed parties, karaoke, trivia, and even a movie and concert marathon.

Set sail from Brisbane and experience an incredible holiday dedicated to Elvis Presley.

Onboard there’s also the largest memorabilia collection at sea, plus throughout the journey you’ll get to listen to a stellar line-up of tribute artists, and legendary music sessions on the life of ‘the king’.

The cruise is setting sail in May next year – so you’ve got plenty of time to prepare – and right now, there’s a special deal available, with a reduced deposit and upgrade to a balcony for the price of an outside cabin.

Norfolk Island Christmas holiday

Norfolk Island off the coast of Australia is a popular travel destination for Aussies all year round. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to travel there right now, but next year when restrictions ease there will no doubt be many people packing their bags and hopping on planes to explore the island.

In fact, there’s a special community tour for over-60s to Norfolk Island over Christmas next year. The eight-day holiday provides travellers the opportunity to soak in the history, culture and welcoming hospitality that the island is famous for, all the while making new friends with likeminded people.

The Travel at 60 team are just taking expressions of interest for now, with the full itinerary set to be released early next year. But, there will be many inclusions for this fantastic holiday package, including breakfast daily, flights, tours and of course a delicious Christmas Day feast.

Kingscliff beach Escape

For New South Wales residents who are craving a relaxing getaway, there’s no better place to unwind than Kingscliff. The small seaside town is located just 40 minutes from Byron Bay, yet far less busy, and with equally beautiful beaches.

Spend three nights at this gorgeous resort in Kingscliff, NSW.

Currently Travel at 60 has a great deal on offer which includes a three-night stay in Kingscliff. The accomodation is situated close to the beach and shopping precinct and features a large lagoon style pool to take a dip in when it gets warm. During the day you can laze around on the beach, browse the shops and mingle with locals. It’s the perfect short escape during these stressful times.
