It seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can’t catch a break. Not only have they been roundly criticised by the public for stepping away from the Royal Family they’ve also come under fire for the motives behind their recent trip to Colombia.

Adding to their troubles, historian Hugo Vickers has shared his perspective on the couple’s future, and it appears “rather bleak”.

During an appearance on The Royals with Roya and Kate podcast, Vickers explained that despite their numerous recent ventures and public appearances, the couple faces an uphill battle to remain relevant and maintain their lavish lifestyle.

“It’s very difficult because he is part of an extraordinary institution and then suddenly he’s cut free from that, he’s gone off on his own, it’s a brave step into an unknown world,” he said.

“What worries me is that I think, whenever I see images of Range Rovers and things coming to the airport and security people that’s jolly expensive and they’ve got to keep moving the whole time to finance this life and I’ve been to Montecito and that’s pretty and lush and expensive too.

“They’re relying to a large extent on ‘Celebrity with a Royal connection’.

“Unless they keep coming up with new initiatives and new goods, they’re going to disappear like so many other celebrities. Once that happens I think the future is going to look rather bleak.”

Vickers’ glimpse into Harry and Meghan’s future comes as another expert who is well versed in royal affairs made his own prediction about what lies ahead for Prince Harry given the current state of affairs.

Former journalist and radio presenter Mike Parry suggests that Harry’s current situation has prompted him to reconsider his recent decisions, this reflection particularly evident during his recent tour of Colombia.

“I feel increasingly sorry for Harry because I think he’s getting isolated and I can see him coming back within the next two years,” Parry told GB News.

“I think he’s so isolated now. This tour of Columbia is all about Queen Meghan.

“They must have spent the last three months desperately searching for a country somewhere in the world where they could do a royal tour, and the best they could come up with was the 18th most dangerous country in the world and the crime capital of South America, Colombia.

“It is beggars belief, the lengths they’re going to now to try and put themselves in the public eye. I think that their ambitions in life now are going to divide fairly soon.

“I think she wants to be taken more seriously, maybe even life in politics, certainly to involve a greater commercial ability to raise money.

“Harry, I think he looks like a guy who’s been smacked in the face with the pan, suddenly woke up and thought, what have I done?”
