Her son Marty confirmed her death on social media yesterday, saying his mother had been hospitalised late last month and was battling pneumonia in intensive care, and was then put on life support.
“My mum, Val, passed away today,” he wrote. “She lived an amazing life.”
“She’s back with her beloved Maurie now. I will miss her very much.”
Val’s son, Marty Fields, is a comic, MC, musician, actor, and radio presenter who had long running roles in Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Blue Heelers, Blankety Blanks, and various other television shows, as well as appearing in musicals. He clearly takes after his parents with his love for the arts, and will surely miss his mother very much.
