A Victorian couple were given the ultimate fright this week as they awoke to find a deadly tiger snake hanging from the air conditioner in their bedroom.

Natalie Marcok and her partner were left in absolute horror when they spotted one of Australia’s most venomous snakes just metres from them.

Quickly calling in a snake catcher for help, the couple watched on in shock as Stewart Gatt, or more commonly known as Stewy the snake catcher, removed the reptile from the unit.

According to the Herald Sun it took around 30 minutes for Stewart to entice the snake away from the air conditioner, using a hook to grab its slippery tail.

Standing by with her phone, Natalie captured the whole ordeal on video, showcasing just how sneaky snakes can be.

In the video which was shared on Facebook, Stewart can be seen using the hook to grab the serpent which tries desperately to remove itself from his grip.

“Oh my f****ing god, Jesus f****ing christ,” Natalie can be heard saying in the background as the snake’s tail is revealed.

The snake does all it can to remain in the air conditioner, even trying to defecate on Stewart as he works to pry it out.

“He’s trying to get me to let go,” the snake catcher explains on the video. “He thinks by crapping all over me, he’s going to entice me to let go.”

Shortly after that the tiger snake gives up, safely landing in a net Stewart holds.

The video, posted by Natalie on social media, has received much attention from Aussies, with many claiming they are now in fear of what nasty creatures may be hiding in their homes.

“That’s f***ing scary. Watched this again lying in bed with our air con on and above our bed…nightmares now!” one person commented.

“Omg that’s what nightmares are made of. So much for snake proofing the yard, better start with the house,” another added.

While a third said: “Nope! Nope! Nope! That would have been a burn it down and move moment for me”.

Speaking to the Herald Sun following the terrifying ordeal, Stewart said he was nearly bitten several times while trying to remove the snake before finally capturing it safely.

He explained the snake was probably in the roof chasing mice before venturing into the air conditioner.

“My guess is the snake entered via a hole made in the external wall for the aircon plumbing to go through,” he told the publication.

The snake discovery comes days after a Melbourne mother was brought to tears after a frightening encounter with a snake in her own bathroom.

The young woman was sitting on the toilet when a dangerous tiger snake crawled its way up the back pipe and popped its head out, only inches from her baby, Yahoo 7 News reports.

It was a scary experience for the Greensborough resident who quickly called a snake catcher to remove the reptile from her home.

Taking to Facebook to share the story, snake catcher Mark Pelley said it took quite a while to catch the snake which had crawled back into the pipe.

“Our story today begins with a mum in the bathroom doing her business and upon looking down out of the corner of her eye to see a tiger snake crawling out of the wall in a small gap next to the pipes for the toilet,” he explained on the post.

“After mum immediately leaving the area, the snake crawled around the bathroom floor until eventually going back up the pipe.

“It took two trips out to the house and many phone calls giving advice on how to handle the snake crawling around inside but I eventually caught it on arrival – by now it had crawled into the laundry.”
