Australian star Nicole Kidman is one of the world’s highest paid actresses who’s been working since her teens, so it wouldn’t surprise anyone if she slowed down her schedule.

But retirement is the last thing on her mind, as she told Hello magazine that she is “still finding (her) voice” as an actress and producer.

The comments come as the 57 year old actress is busy promoting her latest release Holland, opposite Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen, which viewers have praised.

While the Moulin Rouge star has thought about her future in the entertainment industry, she also suggested the decision might not be hers when the time comes.

“Retire from working as an actor? I always have choices. I may go on a different journey at some point,” she explained.

“But I’m never going to be retiring until it’s chosen that, ‘That’s it – you’re done now, Nicole.”

In addition, the Australia star loved being a producer as it offered her the chance to work with and be mentored by talented people, including former Paramount Pictures chief executive, Sherry Lansing.

“I love the involvement and the collaboration that being a producer offers,” she said.

“I’ve had an amazing group of mentors and people who have pushed me.

“But I’m still finding my voice, and I’m hoping that I haven’t done my best work yet.”

While she finds her voice the Oscar winner still finds time to support female movie makers in Hollywood and push female led stories into the mainstream.

In a previous interview, Kidman vowed she would make a movie with a female director every 18 months and had starred in 19 projects with women directors as of February 2025.

“But it’s not about the number; it’s about constantly creating more opportunities and more enthusiasm for our stories,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Kidman also credited her late mother’s influence, saying “she was incredibly supportive of me when I wanted to start working” and encouraged her belief in social justice and women’s rights.

The Big Little Lies star previously spoke of her mother during an appearance on the Fresh Air podcast and explained how lucky she felt to see the world through her mother’s eyes.

“I’m at the place where I’m being given the chance to view the world, because of how close we are, my mum is giving me the chance to view the world through an 81-year-old woman’s eyes,” she said at the time.

“She’s giving me access, because she’s also very direct and very honest, and so I’m getting access to the world through her eyes, my mother’s eyes.”
