Queen Elizabeth II, has no doubt experienced a number of prominent highlights throughout her reign but now the Monarch can add another feather to her hat as she graces the cover of Vogue magazine.

For the first time ever in the fashion magazines history, the 95-year-old monarch will appear on the British Vogue’s April tribute as the publication pays tribute to her Platinum Jubilee by looking back at their relationship with the royal over her 70-year reign.

The cover will feature an image of the Queen from 1967 wearing the iconic George IV State Diadem. It is understood that the portrait was taken by Lord Snowden, the former husband of Princess Margaret, at around the Queen’s 10th wedding anniversary to Prince Philip.

“When I received my OBE for services to diversity in fashion several years ago, I thought carefully about what the decision to accept it would mean,” British Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful wrote in the accompanying editor’s letter.

“Ultimately, I saw an ancient institution that was setting about on a programme of change and if they had noticed and wanted to recognise my work as something worth spotlighting, given the fact my endeavours were all about spotlighting under-represented people too, then I felt comfortable – keen, even – to engage.”

The April edition will feature never before seen images of Her Majesty. Readers will also find press snapshots, candid pictures at home and on holiday and a special tribute to the Queen’s brightly coloured fashion wardrobe.

While musing over the royal’s wardrobe, which is overseen by Angela Kelly, Her Majesty’s personal assistant, advisor and curator, Brtish Vogue’s deputy editor and fashion features director Sarah Harris revealed some unique hacks which include weights worked into hemlines to prevent unfortunate wardrobe malfunctions such as a  breeze lifting a dress and “rigorously” twisting every fabric before it is purchased to ensure the fabric won’t crease.

Though this marks the Queen’s first appearance on the cover of the fashion magazine, other royal family members have graced the publications cover before.

Queen Elizabeth’s very own daughter, Princess Anne, starred in the 1971 November issue and again in their May and November 1973 covers. The late Princess Diana had four Vogue covers and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was also featured in the magazine’s 100th-anniversary issue back in 2016.

The April issue of British Vogue will be available via digital download and on newsstands from Tuesday, March 29.

Doesn't the Queen look stunning on the magazine's cover?
