First photos: Princess Beatrice wows in vintage wedding dress

The royal family has released two official photographs from Princess Beatrice’s wedding day. Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were married in secret at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor on Friday 17 July.

Photos from the happy day show the newlyweds leaving the church following their wedding ceremony, and posing with Beatrice’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

In a special nod to her grandmother, Beatrice, 31, wore a vintage ivory taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell loaned to her by her grandmother and a diamond tiara that was worn by the Queen on her own wedding day in 1947. The beautiful wedding dress also featured organza sleeves, a checkered, geometric bodice, and diamanté details. The 36-year-old groom wore a morning suit.

“Congratulations to HRH Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi!” the royal family wrote on Instagram. “The couple were married in a small private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor on Friday 17th July. Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi celebrated their wedding with their closest family.‬”

It was confirmed on Friday that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony attended by the Queen and close family. The pair had originally planned to marry on May 29 in the Chapel Royal at St James’ Palace, but the ceremony was postponed because of the pandemic.

Princess Beatrice became engaged to Edo in September 2019, while they were on a weekend trip to Italy.

“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married,” the couple said after their engagement. “We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
