The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released an adorable video on Wednesday, as they celebrated their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s first birthday.

Prince Harry and Meghan had confirmed they would be treating the public to a glimpse of their baby son on May 6, and they didn’t disappoint as they shared a sweet video of Meghan reading a book to an almost-unrecognisable baby Archie.

The video was shared on the Instagram account of charity Save the Children UK, in support of their ‘Save with Stories’ coronavirus fundraising campaign. It shows Meghan, dressed casually and looking relaxed, reading the book ‘Duck Rabbit’ to Archie, who even helps his mum to turn the pages.

“‘Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (and Harry, The Duke of Sussex behind the camera), read to their son Archie for his 1st birthday. Happy Birthday, Archie!” a post shared alongside the video read.

The adorable video shows just how much Archie has grown as he wriggles around on his mum’s lap and smiles at his dad, who is behind the camera. And while Prince Harry doesn’t appear in front of the camera, he can be heard at the end, cheering on his wife and son.

Fans of the couple thanked them for sharing the sweet video, having previously kept their son largely out of the limelight. One person wrote: “My heart. Thank you for sharing. Happy birthday little Archie.”

Another said: “He’s a spitting image of his daddy.” While another commented: “Happy Birthday Archie!!! This video is so lovely and exactly what happens to all of us when trying to read to young children.”

The video comes after several members of the British royal family also took to social media to mark Archie’s birthday.

Leading the tributes were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who shared a throwback photo from Archie’s christening, which took place in the private chapel in Windsor Castle last July, on Instagram on Wednesday morning (UK time). Alongside the image they posted a short-but-sweet message which read: “Wishing Archie a very happy first birthday today!”

The official Royal family account also wished Master Archie the best on his birthday, with a message that read: “Happy Birthday to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor who is celebrating his 1st birthday today! Archie is The Queen’s eighth great-grandchild.”

While the official Clarence House account, which represents the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, shared a message which read: “A very Happy Birthday to Archie, who turns one today. This photo of Archie and his grandfather was taken following his christening in July 2019.‬”
