Harry and Meghan delighted royal fans around the world last month when their five-month-old son Archie Harrison made his royal tour debut during his parent’s official visit to Africa, as he accompanied them to a meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe.
Photos and footage of the special occasion was shared widely on social media at the time as the new parents proudly showed off their first-born, but now supporters have been treated to another glimpse of the youngest member of the British royal family in never-before-seen footage from the trip has been released.
The clip, which shows Meghan doting on her little boy, is from the trailer of a new documentary focusing on the Sussexes’ time in Africa. ‘Harry & Meghan: An African Journey’ is set to air on British channel ITV this weekend.
“It was a journey, but not always the one I was expecting,” narrator Tom Bradby can be heard saying in the trailer. “The story of their time in Africa was a passion for their work, private happiness but also a world of pressure and pain behind the brave faces.”
The 20-second trailer shows flashes of the couple’s most recent royal tour from their joint engagements in South Africa to Harry’s solo engagements and the precious time they were able to spend with their son. But it is Meghan’s maternal side that has attracted the most attention as fans were quick to comment on a sweet moment in the video, where she can be seen stroking her young son’s head before planting a gentle kiss on his forehead.
While it only lasts a few seconds, viewers can see Harry holding his son proudly as the duchess leans in and cups his head gently in her hands to soothe him, before planting a kiss on his head as Harry whispers to his wife: “Let’s go.”
Hundreds of royal fans have commented on the tender moment between mother and son on social media, with one person tweeting: “This baby was so wanted. They wasted no time in starting their family, and their love for Archie just pours out of them in photos and videos. You can’t fake that. This family is so real and it shows.”
Another said: “They are so in love and Archie is made of love, awesome.” While another commented: “Can tell this baby is so loved, look at how happy he is. Both parents are very protective of him.”
Meghan also appears to have given an on-screen interview with ITV journalist Tom Bradby as she can be seen at the end of the clip chatting with him, wearing the khaki trench dress that she stepped out in on the last day of the 10-day tour.
While Meghan hasn’t stepped out since returning from Africa, no doubt enjoying some down time with her adorable baby boy, Prince Harry released a hilarious new video last week in honour of Mental Health Week. The clip, shared on the official Sussex Royal Instagram page, shows the prince welcoming pop icon Ed Sheeran into his cousin Princess Eugenie’s home, Ivy Cottage.

The footage begins with Ed having a shave, explaining that he had been contacted by the prince to film “a charity thing with him” that he was very excited about, having admired him from afar for a while. It then cuts to him ringing the bell at the cottage, which incidentally rings out to the tune of ‘God Save The Queen’ to add more fun to the clip.
As Harry answers the door, Princess Eugenie’s wedding photo with husband Jack Brooksbank can be seen on the wall behind him, before Harry jokes: “It’s like looking in the mirror!” Once inside, the pair sit down with Ed explaining he’s been working on a song for a while about the issues they are there to discuss.
“This is something I’m quite passionate about…” Ed says, before Harry replies: “This, for me, is a subject that’s just not talked about enough. And I think people all over the world are really suffering.” It’s then that the hilarious conversation spirals as both of them head down completely different paths, with Ed assuming Harry is talking about them both being ginger.
“People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us,” the singer says, which leaves Harry speechless and simply asking: “What?” To explain, Ed continues: “Well you know the jokes, the snide comments, I just feel like it’s time we stood up and said, ‘We’re not going to take this anymore we’re ginger and we’re going to fight’.”
Harry awkwardly replies: “Erm, slightly awkward, maybe a miscommunication, but this is about World Mental Health Day?” As Ed rushes to insist he’s onboard and knew that all along, the camera shows him quickly deleting the words: “Gingers Unite” in huge letters on his screen.
However, taking a step away from the funny footage at the end, Prince Harry concludes the video with an inspiring message saying: “Make sure you reach out to your friends, strangers, look out for anybody who may be suffering in silence. We’re all in this together.”
Harry & Meghan: An African Journey airs this Sunday in the UK. No date has yet been set for an Australian airing.
