Sarah, Duchess of York, has been full of praise for her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and their impeccable parenting, while speaking at the Inspiration Awards on Tuesday. Fergie welcomed two grandchildren this year, with both Beatrice and Eugenie giving birth.

Sarah raved about her daughters at the event. “They were great children but now they’re phenomenal mothers,” Fergie told Hello! magazine. “You know, it’s pretty incredible, but everyone asks me, ‘How are your grandchildren?’ Well, firstly, I look at my girls being wonderful mothers and then I see these incredible beings.”

Last month, Princess Beatrice announced the safe arrival of her daughter Sienna Elizabeth, with English property developer husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, sharing the arrival on Twitter.

In February, Princess Eugenie welcomed a son, August Philip Hawke, with her bar manager husband Jack Brooksbank.

Fergie openly penned a letter to her daughters in Good Housekeeping in September, saying, “Every day I thank the universe for allowing me to be your mother. You have always been the blood in my veins. From the time you were wee tots, you made my life complete.”

This beautiful sentiment makes clear that being a mother is of the highest importance to Fergie, and that this has extended to her grandchildren as well. In the letter, she shares this transition from being a mother to becoming a grandmother.

“It has been just us for 33 years, but now you are creating your own families, and I couldn’t be happier for you both, and my magnificent sons-in-law, Jack and Edo. Being 61 makes me a young grandma, and I love it. I smile from my heart every day, because that is how it feels to be a granny. Nothing gives me more pleasure than watching you be incredible mothers.”

Like Fergie, Beatrice and Eugenie have also publicly shared their adoration of their children on social media, with Beatrice posting about her love of step-son Christopher (affectionately known as Wolfie) while announcing the arrival of her daughter Sienna.

In honour of Mother’s Day in March (in England), Princess Eugenie shared a gorgeous snap of son August on a blanket in a field of daffodils, paired with a throwback photo of her mother holding her in 1990.
