The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have taken to social media to respond to widespread criticism following Prince Louis’ show-stealing antics at the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the United Kingdom.
The post, released via the royal couple’s official Instagram page, subtly acknowledged their youngest son’s cheeky behaviour during the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday, June 5 following an overwhelming response from the public.
The post features a series of photos from the Platinum Jubilee celebrations including a rather adorable black and white photo of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, dressed in their full Trooping of the Colour attire, alongside a very cute Prince Louis dressed in his now-infamous sailor outfit.
“What a fantastic weekend of celebrations. Seeing people across the nation coming together with family, friends and loved ones has been extremely special,” the couple wrote.
“Thank you to everyone who turned out to show their gratitude to The Queen and her inspiring 70 years of leadership. From the crowds on the Mall to communities hosting street parties up and down the country, we hope you had a weekend to remember.
“We all had an incredible time, especially Louis…”

Although many fans and celebrities were delightfully entertained by the Prince’s childish antics, there were some who wasted no time criticising the Duke and Duchess’ parenting abilities and labelling Prince Louis as “disrespectful”.
“Prince #Louis of Cambridge isn’t so cute after all. He’s a rude, disrespectful brat who needs to be taught manners! Prince William what are you modeling to your son!” one fan wrote.
Many also took it upon themselves to come to the defence of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle as they mused on whether the public would have responded differently if it had been the Sussex’s child.
Prince Louis is being a little brat. Which four year olds sometimes are. But if this was Meghan and her son, the response would be unrelenting. The British press and trolls would go on about this for a YEAR. https://t.co/hIukLpZAS8

Others defended the antics, stating “he’s 4 years old & is just behaving as any other child his age would”.
Makes me laugh seeing people saying Prince Louis is a “naughty” or “disrespectful” child. He’s a CHILD he’s 4 years old & is just behaving as any other child his age would. I think he did really well, it’s all new to him. Get a grip ???????? #PlatinumJubilee

People picking on Prince Louis for being an energetic toddler need a hard look at themselves
No he doesn’t need sorting out or isn’t spoilt just for being a CHILD. He’s full of energy and has been in the same place for hours, is he meant to be a statue?#PlatinumJubileePageant pic.twitter.com/RmL4v8ilA0

Despite Louis’s hilarious behaviour, no one could deny the young Prince felt strikingly familiar to Prince Harry at the very same age.
