Aussie-born Queen Mary of Denmark has stepped out in style for a special engagement that highlighted her commitment to recognising outstanding achievements in the world of research and education.

The Queen, known for her impeccable fashion sense, wore a double-breasted jacket and matching trousers by the prestigious British brand The Fold, exuding sophistication as she graced the ceremony.

The Monarch’s outfit was complemented by pale pink, snakeskin-effect pumps designed by Italian designer Gianvito Rossi and a navy calfskin leather clutch by Danish brand Quidam Bags.

Her Majesty presented certificates to the winners of the EliteForsk Prize, an esteemed accolade that acknowledges the accomplishments of five internationally renowned researchers aged up to 45.

In addition to recognising the achievements of seasoned researchers, Queen Mary also took a moment to encourage the next generation of scholars.

She awarded travel scholarships to 18 talented PhD students, aimed at enabling study stays at the very best research environments globally.

Royal enthusiasts took to social media to express their admiration for Queen Mary’s stylish appearance during the engagement.

“Beautiful Queen!” one wrote.

“We have a very beautiful queen❤️ beautiful Queen Mary.”

“Elegance,” commented another.

“So amazingly beautiful H.M. Queen Mary.”

Education is something that is no doubt close to Mary’s heart, the University of Copenhagen established the Crown Princess Mary Scholarship as a wedding present for her and her husband.

Annually, the university extends invitations to Australian partner universities, such as the University of Tasmania, to nominate deserving students for this scholarship, enabling them to pursue studies in Denmark.

In reciprocation, the University of Tasmania proudly offers the Crown Princess Mary Scholarship, facilitating an exchange that allows both Australian and Danish students to engage in enriching educational experiences in each other’s countries.

In 2015, Her Majesty Queen Mary served as the Honorary Patron for the University of Tasmania’s 125th Anniversary celebrations, underscoring her unwavering support for academic milestones and achievements.

Following her latest royal engagement, our very own Mary seems to be settling into the role of Queen quite nicely since ascending to the throne alongside her husband King Frederik on January 14, 2024.

After Queen Margrethe II, Europe’s longest-serving Monarch announced her abdication after an illustrious 52-year reign during her traditional New Year’s Eve speech, a ceremony rich with tradition and historical significance took place only weeks later that saw Mary and Frederik rise to the throne.
