Since the shocking news of Princess Catherine’s cancer diagnosis broke, the public has been rallying for her well-being and recovery. Closer to home, a “protective” Princess Charlotte is taking care of her mum as she continues her road to recovery.

Following Catherine’s return at this year’s Trooping the Colour, royal author Ingrid Seward told HELLO! that the young royal has grown “protective” of her mother as she continues her cancer treatment.

“I think that Charlotte is really taking care of her mum. It was quite sweet the way she stood in front of her and they kept chatting,” she told the publication.

“Charlotte seems to be very full of admiration for her mother, which I think is a lovely thing, too.

“Kate and Charlotte are great friends and I think to Kate, their bond is very precious. The mother-daughter relationship is obviously particularly important to Kate because she has such a close relationship with her own mother, Carole Middleton.

“They are a very, very close family, which is something the late Queen really liked and thought would play into Kate’s hands and the position that she was getting into.

“She had such a stable family and I think that’s what Kate’s trying to replicate.”

It would seem that Charlotte’s efforts behind the scenes have paid off with Catherine revealing that she is “making good progress” in a long-awaited health update that preceded her appearance at the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

In her first official statement since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, Catherine expressed her gratitude to supporters for their encouraging words and provided an update on her recovery.

Alongside her latest message, a new photo of the Princess was released, showing her looking well in a jacket and jeans, standing under a tree on the Windsor estate.

“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” she began.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”
