In news that will no doubt delight Aussie royal fans, Princess Catherine has hinted that she wants to return to Australia with her children.
The 43-year-old royal, who shares three children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six—with her husband, Prince William, previously visited Australia with their eldest child when he was just eight months old. Now that the children are old enough to remember the trip, Catherine is eager to return to the land down under with her whole brood.
Catherine expressed her desire to revisit Australia during recent St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, where she visited the Irish Guards—of which she is Colonel.
According to HELLO! magazine, she told Corporal Adam Hamilton, an Australian reservist: “George finds it fascinating that he has been to Australia and New Zealand.
“I would like to go back there with them now. It’s finding time to do that. But I love to travel – yes, it’s a long flight. But I love the Middle East because that’s familiar to me (from) growing up. There are so many opportunities now to travel, I think it’s brilliant to experience it.”
Should Princess Catherine and her family decide to visit Australia again, it would follow closely on the heels of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s recent tour of the country, meaning Australia could be soon rolling out the royal welcome once again.
Charles and Camilla’s visit in late 2024 was packed with engagements, beginning with stops at Parliament House and the War Memorial in Canberra.
A reception for the couple made global headlines when Senator Lidia Thorpe interrupted the proceedings to declare “you are not my king” before being escorted out of the building.
In Sydney, visits to the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence, a food bank, a social housing project, a literacy initiative, a community barbecue, a meeting with two leading cancer researchers and a naval review dominated their itinerary.
However, the royals saved the best for last with a visit to the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, where thousands of people queued for almost a kilometre to get a glimpse of the royals during the biggest public event of their trip.
King Charles shook the hands of many of those in attendance as a group sang God Save The King, while Queen Camilla was spotted having a quick chat with several children.
The pair signed the guest book at the Sydney Opera House before making their way to the harbour to review the naval fleet.
After wrapping up their tour of Australia and Samoa, Charles and Camilla delivered a touching message to social media, thanking “both nations for the warmest of welcomes and for the countless fond memories”.
“As our visits to Australia and Samoa come to a close, my wife and I would like to thank both nations for the warmest of welcomes and for the countless fond memories we will carry in our hearts for many years to come,” the couple wrote.
“Even when we are far apart in distance, the many close connections that unite us across the globe and through our Commonwealth family have been renewed, and will remain as profound as they are enduring.”
