Princess Catherine receives history making new title

Princess Catherine has made history after being honoured for her service to the public and tireless support of the arts with a prestigious new title courtesy of King Charles.

Catherine has been appointed Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour, making her the first member of the Royal Family to be appointed a Royal Companion in the order’s 107-year history.

The decision by King Charles to bestow such an honour upon Princess Catherine carries added significance, particularly as both the King and his daughter-in-law face battles with cancer.

Charles’ endorsement of Princess Catherine underscores his unwavering support for her endeavours and serves as a testament to her resilience and commitment, especially amid recent health challenges.

Established by King George V in 1917, The Order of the Companions of Honour is a distinguished society reserved for those who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in the arena of arts, sciences, medicine, and public service.

With membership limited to just 65 individuals at any given time, inclusion in this esteemed order is indeed a rare honour.

Princess Catherine’s new appointment will see her join the likes of fellow esteemed figures such as Sir David Attenborough, Margaret Atwood, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John.

In addition to her latest prestigious title, Catherine was recently honoured as UK’s most popular royal.

Catherine has always held a special place in the hearts of the public, and now, it has been made official after a YouGov survey revealed that Catherine has ascended to the top spot as the most beloved royal among the British public.

76 per cent of Britons hold a favourable view of the Princess of Wales, marking a six-point increase since the beginning of the year.

Her husband, Prince William, is similarly well-received, with 73 per cent expressing positive sentiments towards him.

Princess Anne follows closely behind at 71 per cent, with only 13 per cent harbouring negative opinions of the Princess Royal, the lowest negativity rate among all royals surveyed.

King Charles maintains a broad level of popularity, with 63 per cent of respondents viewing him favourably, while 30 per cent hold unfavourable opinions.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew, however, lag behind in popularity. Only 31 per cent hold a positive opinion of Harry, while Meghan fares even worse at 26 per cent.

Prince Andrew remains the least popular among all, with a mere 6 per cent of Britons viewing him in a positive light, while 86 per cent hold negative opinions of him.

Catherine’s surge in popularity and her most recent title comes as she continues her cancer battle, a journey she recently shared with the public in an emotional video message.

During the video message, Catherine opened up about her deeply personal journey while addressing the speculation surrounding her health.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” she began.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.

“As I have said to them: I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body and spirits.

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.

“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able. But for now I must focus on making a full recovery.

“At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
