Princess Anne has expressed her gratitude to the doctors and nurses who played a crucial role in her swift recovery after she suffered a concussion in 2024, following an accident at her Gloucestershire estate.
The Princess Royal was reportedly kicked by a horse on Sunday, June 23, 2024 sustaining minor head injuries and a concussion. Emergency services quickly responded, and after initial treatment on site, Anne was taken to hospital for further observation and care.
Despite the severity of the incident, Anne made a swift recovery and returned to her royal duties shortly after being discharged.
During a recent visit to Sourthmead Hospital where she was treated, Princess Anne took a moment to thank the health professionals who ensured she was “well looked after”.
“You’ve been filling in the blanks which partly, from my perspective, is really useful to know what happened because I seriously don’t have any idea and, sadly, I don’t have huge memories of being in here either,” she said as per the BBC.
“I just know I was really well looked after, so thank you.
“But whatever you did, it seemed to work… the recovery being relatively straightforward, thankfully. That isn’t always true so I’m really grateful.
“I’m also grateful in a weird sort of way that I remember nothing because that has huge advantages you can just carry on.”

Anne has previously revealed how she has no memory of the incident that landed her in hospital, telling the Press Association during a recent trip to South Africa how the experience served as a stark reminder of how quickly life can change.
“No, nothing,” she said, as per the BBC.
“I know where I thought I was going and that was to go to the chickens, no, nothing to do with horses.
“It just reminds you, shows you – you never quite know, something [happens] and you might not recover.”
