In good news for the Royal Family and the loving public, Princess Anne has returned home to rest and recover after a five-night hospital stay for minor head injuries.

Buckingham Palace announced that Anne had returned home to Gatcombe Park in southwest England and would recuperate there. She is expected to return to public duty when her medical team deems it appropriate.

Following the Princess’ return home her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, offered his “warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness” during his wife’s stay.

The Princess Royal was reportedly kicked by a horse on her Gloucestershire property on Sunday, June 23, sustaining minor head injuries and a concussion. Emergency services were dispatched to the estate, and after receiving medical care at the scene, the Princess was taken to hospital to undergo further tests, treatment, and observation.

At the time of the incident, Buckingham Palace announced the news of her accident to the public in a statement.

“The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening,” the statement read.

“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

The Princess’ accident comes as the Royal Family already face a number of ongoing health challenges with both King Charles and the Princess of Wales diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for cancer.

Her expected absence also serves as a blow to an already slimmed-down Monarchy, given her commitment to her royal duties and her reputation as the hardest-working member of the Royal Family.

According to a report from The Telegraph earlier this year, Princess Anne had attended 457 engagements in the past year.

This places her as the busiest member of her family for the third consecutive year, surpassing even King Charles, who had attended 425 engagements at the time in his new role.

The third busiest was their youngest brother, Prince Edward, with 309 engagements. In contrast, the heir apparent to the throne, Prince William, has only attended 172.
