Patti Newton has been grieving the loss of her late great husband Bert since his passing in October 2020. As the many first’s happen after losing Bert, Patti seems to be coping by sharing pictures of her husband, and reliving those memories.

On January 26, Patti posted a picture of Bert to her Instagram account. The image itself was of Bert, hugging Patti in 1974. Two other women, likely Donna Fayette and Pamela Reid, hugged Bert and Patti, as the couple embraced and smiled cheesily for the camera.

Bert’s stylish 70s shirt and combed shaggy hair match perfectly with Patti’s blonde shag cut and white trimmed, black halter top.

In the caption, Patti bares all saying:

“Bert and I were engaged today in 1974 on the QE11.”

Continuing, Patti reminisces about the exact moment Bert proposed to her.

“Donna Fayette and I had been entertaining on board for 8 months. Bert arrived on board as a surprise and asked me to marry him,” she wrote.

“Best YES I ever said. Miss you so much xx,” Patti finished. Heartbreaking, but beautiful nonetheless.

Bert passed away on October 30 at age 83 after a long health battle, and was undergoing palliative care at a private clinic in Melbourne when he died. The Australian public and entertainment world mourned the entertainment legend during a state funeral in mid-November.

Patti Newton also recently conveyed her grief over the loss of her husband in a touching photo of the couple’s wedding day in 1974. Patti, 76, shared the throwback photo, alongside the caption, “My darling Alb, I will miss you forever. My heart is broken.”
