‘Ok, take a deep breath, take a walk’: James Brolin on his almost 30 year marriage to Barbara Streisand

Hollywood can be a terrible place for long-lasting romance but not for superstars James Brolin and Barbara Streisand, who will soon celebrate an important milestone.

One of Tinseltown’s most enduring couples is about to celebrate almost three decades of wedded bliss and the key to their success is surprisingly simple.

The two-time Golden Globe winner, whose real name is Craig Kenneth Bruderlin, opened up during an interview with USA Today and explained that learning to take a time out when conflicts arise is the real secret to their ongoing relationship.

“I just think you gotta say, ‘Ok, take a deep breath, take a walk’,” he said.

However the 84 year old soon turned cheeky and noted that a very good mattress was another thing that kept the power couple together.

“It’s just great. The best investment we’ve ever made is our mattress,” he said.

“And don’t misunderstand me. We’re both lazy. We love to sleep late. We do a lot of our work on the phone, on paper, reading, right next to each other.”

The famous couple tied the knot in 1998 in a beautiful ceremony in Streisand’s estate in Malibu, California. While they have no children together, Brolin has three grown kids from previous relationships, and Streisand shares a son, Jason, with her first husband, American actor Elliot Gould.

They regularly speak openly about their love with one another and Brolin has often spoken on why their relationship works.

Streisand will also upload photos of the couple on social media, like the time she shared a throwback pic of the couple for a previous milestone.

Taking to Instagram, the Hello Dolly star posted a stunning photo of herself and Brolin from their wedding day, with the caption: “23 years together… and 21 years married today.”

In the glamorous shot, Streisand can be seen wearing a beautiful off-the-shoulder white gown that featured a cinched-in waist and dramatic train, coupled with a standout diamond chocker necklace. Meanwhile, Brolin looked dashing in a classic black tuxedo.

Fans were moved by the beautiful post with many leaving congratulatory comments for the pair on their anniversary.

“You are not only blessed with the voice of an angel, but graced with a marriage to the LOVE of your life! Congrats!” one commentator wrote.

Another added: “Wishing you many more years together!” While a third wrote: “Congratulations to you two. So happy for you.”
