In the wake of an emotional and poignant memorial service for her dear friend and former co-star Johnny Ruffo, Home and Away star Lynne McGranger turned to social media to express her heartfelt reflections on the day that marked their final farewell.

The gathering, a sombre but meaningful occasion, provided a space for friends, family, and fans to come together to say their final goodbyes to the beloved actor who recently lost his battle with brain cancer.

McGranger delivered a eulogy during the service in which she explained that despite his success, Ruffo’s humility remained unwavering.

“Those closest to him knew that he’d spent his entire life working towards that moment,” she said.

“He had a softness to him that kept him grounded, humble … He was an empathetic and caring friend to so many as well as such an incredible fighter.”

Following the emotional service, McGranger turned to Instagram to share her reflections on the day.

“Said ‘goodbye for now’ to this magnificent human today. So many emotions, so much love, so blessed to be included in his huge and crazy family,” she wrote.

“So many people came to say goodbye, so many more couldn’t get here. We cried and laughed and danced and sang and ate and drank and hugged and cried and …. – exactly how he would have wanted it.

“Fly high my friend, I hope you know how much you’re loved.”
