BREAKING NEWS: Australian entertainer Johnny Ruffo has passed away

Much loved Australian singer, actor and entertainer has sadly passed away.

News of the 35 year-old’s passing was shared via his social media accounts at midday, November 10, with a heartfelt message from his loved ones who paid tribute to the charming and talented man who has graced Australian screens since 2011.

“It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny.

“Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, Johnny went peacefully with the support of some incredible Nurses & Doctors.

“He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. Johnny was very determined and had a strong will. He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.

“We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives.

“Rest easy.”

Ruffo succumbed to a six year battle with brain cancer which reemerged in 2020 after he briefly went into remission.

It was a brutal journey for Australia’s sweetheart but he openly shared his fight with the disease on social media, always remaining positive and optimistic.

In August last year he announced that his cancer was terminal. 

The outpouring of love and condolences from Australians has been tremendous as people from far and wide acknowledged his fighting spirit and paid their respects and sympathies on his untimely death.

Ruffo first gained fame through his participation in the third season of the Australian version of The X Factor.

The show shot him to stardom and a string of hit singles soon followed suit including On Top and Take it Home.

In 2012 Ruffo won Dancing with the Stars and was then seen on television screens as Home and Away as Chris Harrington.
