Former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop, held a sunny disposition throughout her latest event, not even a full two weeks after her break-up with her partner of eight years, David Panton.

The 65-year-old shared images on Instagram of herself, along with graduates of the Mineral Resources professional development program, where she was a guest speaker.

The images of the elated Australian National University Chancellor were captioned: “Addressing employee graduates @mineral_resources professional development program, sharing my career journey, the sliding-door moments plus a few tips! What a diverse, ambitious and inspiring group of future leaders. We also joined in the dot painting project for #naidoc2022.”

Bishop’s Instagram post was flooded with praise for her “inspiring” involvement in helping to raise the nation’s next leaders.

“Inspiring. Thank you for sharing your advice and career progression. You are as eloquent as you are glamourous,” one person said.

“Ever inspirational. We need more people like yourself (Julie) in the world to inspire these up and coming professionals and leaders of our community. It’s about the sharing of knowledge. I applaud your initiative,” said another.

“Great to know that there are ambitious and inspiring future leaders out there and they were lucky to have you sharing your wisdom. Looking fabulous,” one wrote.

According to WA today, Bishop’s breakup was initiated by Panton during a dinner at Eastbank restaurant on Sydney’s Macquarie Street on Tuesday, July 5.

Panton confirmed the breakup in a statement to The Sydney Morning Herald, revealing the couple would be going their separate ways.

“I’m going to be focused on living in Manly and Melbourne for the foreseeable future,” Panton said.

“I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career.”

The breakup happened a mere week after the couple attended a special dinner with Prince Charles at St James’ Palace in London in honour of Charles’ national charity, The Prince’s Trust.

Bishop shared images from the event dedicated to helping young people, veterans and their families, and the environment.

“Dinner at St James’s Palace hosted by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and President of @princes.trust.au. As Chair of the Trust I attended Prince’s Trust Week in London recently with colleagues and patrons from the @princestrust group and our global network (see slides summarising our year in review),” the post was captioned.

Bishop has declined to comment on her separation from Panton.
