Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curtis has the sort of career many actors pine for. Having made her name with slasher flicks in the 1970s, she became a bona fide star in the 1983 comedy hit Trading Places and continues to wow audiences and critics in such films as Knives Out (2019) and her Oscar-winning performance in 2022’s Everything, Everywhere All at Once.
But despite her success, the 66-year-old star recently shared a deeply personal regret — one that might surprise her fans.
While speaking to the US 60 Minutes program, the True Lives star revealed she had some work down when she was in her 20s after her looks were criticised by a crew member on the set of her 1985 film Perfect.
During the interview, Curtis revealed that she overheard the movie’s cinematographer refuse to shoot her as her eyes were “baggy.”
“”(The cinematographer) was like: ‘Yeah, I’m not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy,'” she said.
“And I was 25. So, for him to say that was very embarrassing. So as soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery.”
Curtis admitted she regretted the decision almost immediately.
“That’s just not what you wanna do when you’re 25 or 26. And I regretted it immediately and have kind of sort of regretted it since,” she admitted.
“Way so now because I’ve become a really public advocate to say to women: ‘You’re gorgeous and you’re perfect the way you are.’ So oh, yeah I … it was not a good thing for me to do.”
Never one to shy away from challenging societal norms, Curtis has made headlines for embracing her natural self — including sharing nude photos on social media to highlight that confidence and beauty don’t have an expiration date.
Previously, the award-winning actress and author shared jaw-dropping photos from a photoshoot with The New York Times and gushed over the honour of being the subject of New York photographer Ryan Pfluger.

“Most people don’t know this but I’m a photographer. My whole life. I’ve collected photographs and supported artists. I’ve been following the work of Ryan Pfluger for a long, long time. I’ve seen the beautiful portraiture and incredible saturation of color and light and honesty in his work,” she captioned the post.
“This color work is beautiful and I am honored to have been in front of his lens and eye and heart!”
