Jamie Lee Curtis paid homage to her late mother, Janet Leigh, for the Halloween Kills red carpet premiere on October 12 in Los Angeles.

In place of a standard red carpet, the cast and crew opted for a costume party for the film’s premiere over designer suits and gowns.

Hollywood’s reigning scream queen wore a light blue, buttoned-up dress and a blonde bob with a bloodied shower curtain draped over her arm to complete the look in honour of her later mother who played Marion Crane in the iconic 1960 film Psycho.

Film buffs will surely remember the iconic Alfred Hitchcock horror film in which Janet Leigh’s character becomes one of Norman Bate’s victims in a shower scene that would go on to live in cinematic fame for decades to come.

Curtis spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the inspiration for her costume.

“I am honoring my beautiful late mama, Janet Leigh, but… it’s a little more meta than that,” she said.

“I am actually going as Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh in the movie Hitchcock. So it’s meta because we never knew what color Janet Leigh’s dress was because it was a black-and-white movie.”

Curtis took to Instagram to post a photo of her costume ahead of the red carpet premiere, captioning the post with, “Honoring my mother in ALL her gory…I meant glory!
PREMIERE PARTY TIME!”

Fans and stars alike were quick to comment on the post and the star’s iconic costume.

Fellow Hollywood star Zoe Deschanel wrote “So cute!!!”

“No one can top this costume.”

“OMG!!! I thought it was Janet Leigh for a second!!!”

Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey also commented “You’re a flipping genius!”

It’s not the first time the Halloween star has paid homage to her late mother, in 2015 she recreated the infamous shower scene from Psycho on her Twitter.  Curtis also took to Instagram this year to share a heartfelt tribute to her mother on what would have been her 94th birthday.

Janet Leigh passed away in October 2004 at her Beverly Hills home, she was 77.

Halloween Kills is the latest instalment in the classic horror film franchise and will see Curtis’ reprise her character Laurie Strode from the original film to face off against the iconic Michael Myers once more.
