Fans send their ‘love and strength’ to Lisa Curry as she marks the fourth anniversary of her daughter’s passing

Australian swimming icon Lisa Curry has been met with an outpouring of love and support from fans across the country after she marked the fourth anniversary of her daughter Jaimi’s passing.

Jaimi was only 33 years old when she tragically passed away on September 14, 2020, after reportedly suffering from a long health battle.

Taking to Instagram, Curry shared a series of beautiful photos to honour her daughter’s memory alongside a moving message.

“It’s been 4 years and still feels like yesterday. But the grief has lifted, the days are brighter, and my heart is lighter,” she wrote.

“There is not ONE DAY that this little poppet is not remembered. Not one day.

“Always in our heart and thoughts. Oh how we miss you Jaimi.”

In closing her message, Curry shared a heartfelt poem that explored the feelings of loss and grief.

The moment that you left me , my heart was split in two.
One side was filled with memories, the other died with you.
I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep,
And take a walk down memory lane
with tears upon my cheek.
Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday .
But missing you is a heartache that never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart and there you shall remain.
Life has gone on without you but it can never be the same.

Following Curry’s heartfelt post, fans swiftly rallied to offer their support, flooding her with messages of encouragement and solidarity.

“Sending all my love,” one wrote.

“Jaimi will always be with me and our family. We think of her and speak of her often x.”

“So glad you are feeling a bit better Lisa – recently when I’ve seen photos of you I did think you looked a bit like your old happy self. Of course she is gone but never forgotten,” commented another.

“Jaimi’s gift to you is peace in your heart. You just had to wait to open that gift.”

“Remembrance is a form of meeting. All love and strength to you.”

Since Jaimi’s death, Curry has worked tirelessly to keep her memory alive, recently taking to social media to pay tribute to her late daughter on what would have been her 37th birthday.

“Happy birthday to our beautiful Jaimi,” she wrote alongside a collection of cherished photos featuring special moments with her daughter.

“The day you were born changed our lives forever. Our little poppet dressed in pink of course with big blue eyes. You may be gone from our sight, but never from our thoughts and heart.

“Not a day goes by…. We all miss you ….

“Happy Birthday my love. Mumma xxx.”

As with many of Curry’s tributes, the post was met with admiration for her strength and resilience in the wake of such a heartbreaking loss.
