Eugenie and Beatrice turn heads in ‘frumpy’ outfits at races

When it comes to fashion, it seems everyone’s a critic.

Royal-watchers came out in force today to catch a glimpse of the Queen and her family as they enjoyed a day out together at Royal Ascot, but it was princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who captured the most attention.

The two girls wore drastically different looks, but neither seemed to appease the sharp-tongued lashings from the British media and public.

While some loved their look, others branded them dreadful and The Daily Mail even went as far as to call Eugenie “frumpy”.

“Princess Eugenie missed the mark in an unflattering black dress at Ascot on Tuesday,” they wrote.

Adding that the “black fit and flare dress, with intricate floral embellishment, did little to flatter her hourglass frame.”

Commenters weren’t much nicer, with one writing: “These are not unattractive young women, but they have no dress sense. Someone help them.”

While Eugenie kept simple in black, Beatrice embraced a more summery style with a white embellished frock and small headpiece.

Of course, it’s not the first time the girls have been lambasted for their style.

They were ridiculed worldwide over the outfits they wore to their cousin Prince William’s wedding to the Duchess of Cambridge.

However, all the talk appears to have little to quell their appetite for fashion, with both regular fixtures at red carpet events.

What do you think of their outfits here? Hit or miss? Do you think they’re unfairly criticised?
