Elton John’s health takes a hit as he steps out for first time following hip surgery

It seems the King of Pop is still standing, even after hip surgery. Sir Elton John, 74, has been seen publicly for the first time since undergoing massive hip surgery a month ago, after suffering a fall over the European Summer.

Attending a ceremony to receive a Companion of Honour award from Prince Charles at Windsor Castle, Elton wore a very sophisticated charcoal grey suit with a crisp white buttoned shirt and lowkey ruffle cuffs. Elton paired this look with a soft blue tie, a gold faced watch, and a small poppy lapel pin. Rounding out the look was a pair of oversized square frame deep blue and white sunglasses – a very Elton touch to an otherwise quite plain outfit.

Shockingly, but unsurprisingly, Elton also (crocodile) rocked a gold walking stick, likely due to his recovery. Elton had surgery following a serious fall on quite a hard surface to aid in pain management following the fall. The Rocket Man revealed he had a problem with his hip as he announced the postponement of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour via his social media channels in September.

The statement detailing Elton’s incident said: “At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since. Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving. I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications. I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain”.

“After [the Global Citizen event], I will be having the operation to ensure the tour can get back on the road in January of 2022” for the final leg.

Elton made a solemn promise to his adoring and forbearing fans “I promise you this – the shows will return to the road next year and I will make sure they are more than worth the wait”.
