Superstar Cher has honoured her late mother, singer and actress Georgia Holt, with a moving tribute on social media three years after her death.
Holt, who was largely known for her appearance on the legendary sitcom I Love Lucy, was 96 years old when she passed away in December 2022, three months after she had been hospitalised with pneumonia.
The age-defying 79 year old icon took to X (formally twitter) and revealed how Holt had a profound influence on her life, sharing the moving insight that she still tries to talk to her to this day.
“Sometimes I Talk 2 U,Need 2 Ask U a Question,Or I FORGET,& THINK,OH..GOTTA CALL MOM. We Both Know U Could Be a Little Off The Wall Sometimes, BUT MOM,I AM WHO I AM … BECAUSE OF U.”

Fans online were deeply moved by the beloved message and shared their condolences with the legendary performer.
“Happy birthday In heaven, Georgia. LOVE YOU and MISS YOU Momma Cher,” one commented.
“I wish a very heavenly Happy Birthday to your mom. I just read your book so I feel like I know her a little bit. I’m thinking of you Cher on this day. I know how hard it can be,” wrote another.
“Happy Heavenly Birthday Ms. G,” another commented.
“Your Mom gonna be always for you. We love you so much! ”
“My Mom’s birthday was yesterday and she was a little off the wall too! It’s been 10 years and I still talk to her.”
The Believe singer had a close relationship with her mother, who even made a brief vocal cameo on Cher’s 1978 one-off TV program Cher… Special.
Later, the pair collaborated on a documentary, Dear Mom, Love Cher, which explored Holt’s life and featured exclusive interviews about Holt’s multiple marriages, her relationship with Cher and her other daughter, Georganne LaPiere, as well as her grandsons Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman.
Released in 2013, Cher described the documentary to USA Today as a good Mother’s Day special, but not a “Hallmark” style show.
“It’s a Stephen Colbert or South Park version, not your average Mother’s Day story, but totally real,” she explained to the outlet.
Holt also released her pop/country album, Honky Tonk Woman 30 years after it was first recorded and was finally mixed by The Voice musical director Paul Mirkovich.
At the time, Cher said her mother wanted the project released to show women it’s “not over at any age.”
“She got her dream after 80 years. Women should never think they have a sell-by date.”
