He might have led an entire country, but nothing can prepare former prime minister Tony Abbott for one of his biggest roles yet – becoming a grandparent! But he’ll have to get organised soon, as one of his three daughters, Frances Loch (née Abbott), 29, has recently announced she’s expecting her first child with her husband, dual Olympian Sam Loch, 37.
Frances revealed the big news via Instagram on Monday by posting a gorgeous black-and-white photo of herself throwing her head back in laughter while holding her hand on her small baby bump alongside the sweet caption, “BIG LITTLE BABY LOCH Joining the party Summer ‘21”.
People flooded the comments with well wishes for the mum-to-be, with one writing, “Oh my gosh. My heart is exploding. Congratulations Franny and Sam.” While another said, “OMG STOPPPP! I am so so happy for you both. That little bundle of joy is going to be incredibly loved.”

Frances and Sam made headlines early on in their relationship, when they announced their engagement after just two weeks of knowing each other. Frances revealed the news on her Instagram by posting a sweet series of photo-booth-style snaps of the pair kissing and cuddling alongside the excited caption: “HEY FEYONCÉ. Two weeks was all it took to know that forever with you was a mighty fine idea.”
The pair married three months later in Sydney, with pictures of the big day showing Frances in a frilly lace wedding dress that highlighted her amazing abs, while her husband Sam opted for a more relaxed look, donning an open-neck shirt and smart trousers.
The couple now reside in Portland, Oregon, according to her Instagram, and are due to mark their third wedding anniversary in April. Meanwhile, Frances, who used to be a professional bodybuilder, now works as a fitness instructor in the US.
