As far as Christmas presents go, Hollywood actress Andie MacDowell hit the jackpot recently after welcoming her first grandchild over the holidays.

In a recent interview with Today Show US, the 64-year-old Maid star opened up about the joyful event after being congratulated by host Al Roker.

“I just spent Christmas with her,” MacDowell revealed.

“I’ve never had somebody look into me and see my soul like that.”

When asked what she would like her granddaughter to call her, MacDowell admitted she hasn’t decided yet.

“She can’t speak yet. I’m going to give her time. I’m thinking Nana or Grandma. Not Granny. [But] it’s up to her,” she revealed.

MacDowell announced the exciting news in June 2022, taking to social media to share that her 37-year-old son Justin Qualley and his partner, Nicolette, were expecting their first child.

“My son plants fruit trees that’s how he has fun. Nicolette and Justin are down to earth in every way. They are always there for their friends and family. Pure goodness in the coolest way!” MacDowell’s post read.

“Montana provides the perfect home for them and the quiet solitude they deserve. When so much of the world is looking for attention they are looking for each other & are waiting for the perfect gift for their child.”

MacDowell goes on to say that her son has been a “blessing and a gift” to her since the very beginning, adding that becoming a soon-to-be grandma was the “best thing that ever happened” to her.

“I cannot wait to meet my sweet new grandchild. I’m so proud of all three of my children. and I love and I’m proud of sweet Nicolette too!!!”

There’s no doubt that MacDowell will be an excellent grandma, one who will teach her new granddaughter important life lessons like being comfortable in her own skin, such as in the the way she has embraced her grey hair and ageing naturally.

MacDowell first started referring to herself as a “silver fox” back in February 2021 after choosing to grow out her grey hair during quarantine.

“I wasn’t colouring my hair … and you could see my roots, and my daughters kept telling me that I looked badass. And that idea that I could look badass really appealed to me” she said during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show at the time.

The actress had previously also said that growing out her natural hair was a”power move”.

“Once I did it, it was just so clear to me that my instincts were right because I’ve never felt more powerful,” she said.

“I feel more honest. I feel like I’m not pretending. I feel like I’m embracing right where I am. I feel really comfortable. And in a lot of ways, I think it’s more striking on my face. I just feel like it suits me.”
