Frank Stallone has paid tribute to his late mother Jackie, confirming that the family matriarch passed away in her sleep on Tuesday morning. The 98-year-old’s death was first reported yesterday by US showbiz site TMZ, however no cause of death has yet been confirmed.

Jackie was a mother to three sons Tommy, Sylvester, Frank, while her only daughter Toni Ann D’Alto passed away in 2012. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

“This morning my brothers and I lost our mother Jackie Stallone,” Frank wrote on Tuesday evening (US time). “She was a remarkable woman working out everyday full of spunk and fearless.”

He continued: “It was hard not to like her, she was very eccentric and flamboyant person. She was born on November 29 th 1921 in Washington DC, she lived through prohibition, the depression and World War II. I would talk to her for hours about the 20’s 30’s and 40’s. It was a history lesson. Her mind was as sharp as a razor till the day she died.

“My brother Sylvester took care of her like a Queen for all of her life. I will never be able to call my mom again or have her yell at me why I never got married. But we all loved her and her sprit to survive and prevail. I’ll miss you always mommy.”

Many of Frank’s followers sent their condolences to the showbiz family and expressed their sadness over the news of Jackie’s passing. One wrote: “Frank and family I’m so sorry for your loss. Jackie was such an inspiring woman, doing more than most could ever dream of. She raised an incredible family and know she will always be with you x Sending so much love.”

Another wrote: “My heart is with you all tonight. May she RIP She was absolutely beautiful lady.” While another said: “May she Rest In Peace. My sincere condolences to you and your precious family. I am thankful you had her in your life so long and took advantage of talking to her and being able to tap into her great wisdom. A remarkable woman that was so proud of you and her family. God bless and keep you and may you always find peace in your memories.”

Jackie enjoyed a career as an astrologer and is credited with coining the phrase ‘rumpology’ which refers to reading other parts of the anatomy, specifically the buttocks, in a manner similar to palm readings. She is also renowned for being a former dancer and even worked as a women’s wrestling promoter.

In recent years she also enjoyed a resurgence in popularity and established herself as a star in her own right, having appeared on reality TV shows such as Celebrity Big Brother in the United Kingdom, where she clashed with former daughter-in-law Brigitte Nielsen, who was also a contestant. She was also known for her penchant for plastic surgery.
