Sunrise presenter Samantha Armytage ended 2020 on a high, tying the knot with her partner Richard Lavender in an intimate ceremony on New Year’s Eve, just six months after announcing their engagement.

The 44-year-old looked absolutely gorgeous on her special day, wearing a simple-yet-elegant long-sleeved white frock, which fell just above her knees, while her hair was pulled back with a white ribbon. In a photo shared to social media, the journalist smiled lovingly at Richard, 61, who looked incredibly dapper in a smart black suit, crisp white shirt and blue tie, as the two walked hand-in-hand through a paddock on Richard’s property at Bowral on the NSW Southern Highlands.

“11.58am on a Thursday. How lucky are we?” she captioned the photo on Instagram.

And it wasn’t long before friends and fans congratulated the pair, with tons of comments wishing them well as they started the new year as husband and wife.

“This is insanely awesome,” fellow Channel Seven presenter Larry Emdur wrote. “Because we weren’t there, please accept this insta ‘like’ as our wedding gift.”

While Larry’s co-host Kylie Gillies commented, “Lucky in love. A new year and new beginnings. Perfect. All our love.”

Media personality Sally Obermeder added, “What a beautiful way to end a year and start a new one. We are so happy for your both. Love you @sam_armytage.”

The wedding came six months after Samantha and Richard announced their engagement to the world, posting two photographs of Sam cuddling up to her businessman beau on Instagram. The journalist captioned the post, “what a year…”, as she showed off a dazzling diamond ring. Sam’s delight was clear to see as she smiled widely at the camera with her hand placed on Richard’s chest.

Many people, including some famous faces, congratulated the happy couple on their exciting engagement news. Sam’s co-star David ‘Kochie’ Koch wrote, “Wow that’s such wonderful news. Congratulations to you and Rich from Libby and I.”

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac said, “Sam!! Richard!!! Well bloody done. So great to see some happy news. @banjoarmytage for ring bearer duties, calling it early.” While reporter Edwina Bartholomew commented, “Well, this is hands down the best thing to happen this year.”
