Sylvia Jeffreys, 34, and husband Peter Stefanovic, 39, celebrated their son Oscar’s first birthday on Sunday surrounded by their closest family and friends. The doting soon to be mother-of-two shared a series of photos from the big day showing Oscar looking adorable as he sat with an array of friends and family members including his growing group of baby cousins.
Luckily, both Sylvia and Peter’s mothers were able to join the party with the sweet snaps showing the grandmothers beaming with pride as they held their grandchildren. Fans were also able to get a glimpse of Sylvia’s growing baby bump, which she complemented with a gorgeous blue-and-white maxi dress.
She captioned the series of snaps: “Our sweet, spirited, determined Oscar Hamilton is ONE today and we still can’t believe our luck. We love you more than we ever knew we were capable of. May you continue to squeeze every drop out of this big, beautiful life. One day your proud, overbearing parents will let you eat cake in peace. But not today.”

The photos also showed off the beautiful cake Sylvia made with the help of the iconic Women’s Weekly Children Birthday Cake Book. Posting on her Instagram story, she said she had previously tried to bake the number-one shaped cake in August however, it was a complete failure with the shape looking hilariously ruder than intended.
But the Today presenter redeemed her baking reputation for Oscar’s birthday as she showed off the homemade cake complete with blue icing and edible stars on top. Fans gushed over the impressive dessert with one writing: “Happy 1st birthday Oscar and I love that you had a normal cake, not the over the top cakes we usually see for first birthdays that are up there with my wedding cake.”
Sylvia’s famous friends took to the comments to wish her first-born a very happy birthday with her former co-host and now The Project host Lisa Wilkinson writing: “How did that year go so quickly??!! Happy birthday beautiful boy. And PS. Excellent work in the cake-making department SJ!!” While journalist Deborah Knight wrote: “1 already! Wonderful.”
Meanwhile, Sylvia’s sister-in-law Jasmine Stefanovic, who was in attendance on the day along with her and husband Karl Stefanovic’s nine-month-old daughter Harper, said: “These are such great shots!! Happy 1st Birthday to our special Oscy.”
And with Oscar reaching his first milestone, Sylvia even wrote an article on 9 Honey about the 10 things she’s learned from her first born, both in celebration of his first birthday and preparation for her next baby which is due in April.
In the article, Sylvia described Oscar as fearless, social and cheeky before saying he was a “life-altering gift who has shown us we can love harder, care more deeply, worry more frequently (often unnecessarily) and imagine more wildly”.
