Michael Douglas a grandfather again as son Cameron welcomes new baby

Michael Douglas has become a grandfather again after his son Cameron (who he shares with ex-wife Diandra Luker) and his son’s long-term girlfriend Viviane Thibes welcomed their second child, a son named Ryder T. Douglas. Cameron and Viviane are also parents to three-year-old Lua.

The 42-year-old announced the exciting news on Instagram on Tuesday alongside a picture of his wife cradling their newborn son. His daughter Lua is also in the sweet photo. “Touch down planet Earth,” he captioned the post. “Welcome my son… Ryder T. Douglas.”

Michael, 76, and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 51, were among the first to comment on the baby announcement, with the Basic Instinct actor writing, “So happy for Viviane and you. Don’t think Lua is sure about this yet! What a holiday present.” Meanwhile, Catherine wrote, “Lua’s face, like… ‘whatever’… Hilarious! Congrats.”

Fans of Cameron’s also commented on the sweet post, with one writing, “Oh my goodness!! What a beautiful surprise! Congratulations to the family!!”

Another added, “Congratulations I’m so so happy for you guys! What a great early Christmas gift.” While a third wrote, “Congratulations on your new arrival.”

Michael became a first-time grandfather in December 2017 after his son’s partner gave birth to Lua Izzy Douglas. And the actor recently took to social media to wish his granddaughter a happy third birthday.

On Instagram over the weekend, the actor shared a beautiful picture of Lua cuddling up to him, with the sweet caption, “Happy Birthday to my granddaughter Lua, who turns 3 years old today! Love you Lua!”

Interestingly, Lua’s middle name, Izzy has a special connection to her great-granddad and Michael’s dad, the late Kirk Douglas, who passed away in February this year at the age of 103.

Kirk was actually born Issur Danielovitch and was known as Izzy for most of his life. Cameron and Viviane chose the special name to pay tribute to the family patriarch and ensure his legacy lives on through the next generation of Douglases.

It comes more than a month after Michael and Catherine celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. The pair, who share Dylan, 20, and Carys, 17, together, tied the knot on November 18, 2000.

To mark the special occasion, Michael posted a beautiful tribute to his wife: “Happy 20th anniversary my darling! I love you always and forever @catherinezetajones.”
