Melissa Doyle celebrated her 51st birthday on Wednesday, and to mark the occasion the former Sunrise presenter uploaded a fresh-faced snap to social media, and fans couldn’t get over how young she looked in the picture! In the gorgeous snap, Melissa can be see smiling widely for the camera as she shows off seemingly wrinkle-free skin and long blonde hair.
She captioned the post: “51 years on this planet and I’m embracing every experience, laugh line, challenge & opportunity. Feeling very loved, and grateful I’m still having a ball!!”
And it didn’t take long before fans of Melissa’s commented on her “ageless” looks, with one social media user even claiming that she “still looked 21”. “You are ageless and gorgeous, enjoy every birthday from here as they are so worth celebrating,” the commenter wrote.
Another added: “Happy birthday! You don’t even look it! Thought you were 40. Any chance of returning to news soon?” While a third wrote: “Getting more beautiful with every year.”
Others simply wished the journalist a very happy birthday, with one writing: “Happy Birthday Mel, I hope you have had a fabulous day celebrating in style.”
Over the years the well-known presenter has held hosting roles on 11AM, Today Tonight, Sunrise, 7NEWS and Sunday Night. However, in August last year the TV veteran was given the boot from Seven after 25 years at the network. Speaking exclusively to Stellar magazine at the time, Melissa said she went through a range of emotions in the aftermath of the axing.
“I wouldn’t say it came as a total shock, I just felt really sad,” she told the publication. “I let myself have one day when I wallowed on the couch and had a gin and tonic a little earlier than I should have.”
Melissa added she was keen to have some time out to rejuvenate.
“I’m lucky I can sit it out a bit, but it’s good to look forward,” she said. “That’s a large part of mental health, otherwise you go down a rabbit hole and I don’t want to do that. The world will come back in time.
“I’ve had more opportunities than I could’ve imagined. I’ve covered more stories, been to more places and met more people than the 16-year-old girl who wanted to be a journalist could’ve dreamt of. Nothing can take that away. I’m really grateful and I loved it.”
