The 2022 Oscars put on an eventful show with many fan favourites such as Liza Minnelli and Judi Dench standing out from the crowd in a tasteful show of elegance.
The 94th Academy Awards were held at Dolby Theater in Hollywood, on March 28, hosting a star-studded audience, and celebrated the best films, producers and actors/actresses throughout 2021 with the film CODA being awarded best picture.
Dame Judi Dench, 87, attended the awards with her grandson Sam Williams and looked regal in her floor-length, white gown, lined with pearl detailing. She wore her hair in her signature cropped look and wore light makeup to match the palette of her dress.
Dench was in attendance for her nomination in the best-supporting actress category for her performance in Belfast.
Actress Nicole Kidman stepped out with husband and singer Keith Urban. She was nominated for best leading actress for her role as Lucille Ball in the film Being the Ricardos.
Kidman looked graceful in a beautiful light-blue hued dress, a colour reportedly designed for her, and featured a dramatic, puffy peplum, a bodice designed to look like butterfly wings and an A-line skirt with a train.
The Crown star Olivia Coleman dazzled alongside her husband Ed Sinclair, in a majestic silver pleated Dior gown. The gown was high-necked, had a cinched waist and exaggerated sleeves.
Coleman was up for best actress for her role in The Lost Daughter.
Beloved Hollywood icon, Liza Minnelli attended the Oscars to present the best actress award alongside singer turned actress, Lady Gaga.
Minelli, presented the award in a wheelchair wearing a black suit with hot pink cuffs and was met with a standing ovation as she took the stage.
“Do you see that? The public, they love you!,” Gaga said to Minelli.
“…I’m honoured to present the final award of the evening with a true show business legend.”
Veteran actress, Dame Joan Collins, didn’t attend the academy awards but did make an appearance at the Vanity Fair after-party.
She was dripping in sophistication in a shimmering, beaded silver gown with a bodice covered in diamontes.
The Oscars 2022 exceeded the previous year’s television ratings, with Will Smith drawing controversial attention by smacking comedian Chris Rock across the face mid-performance after Rock made a comment about Smith’s wife.
