Hip hip hooray! Australian rockstar Jimmy Barnes has been given the doctor’s approval to travel overseas after recovering from his sudden hip surgery last December.

The 66-year-old shared the good news on Facebook, thanking his doctor for their “immaculate” work.

“We’ve got 10 out of 10, and an all clear to get on the next plane. Land of Smiles here we come. The kids will look after the veggies, roses and geese,” Barnes post reads.

“Our next phase of Physio will be in a pool by the Gulf of Siam. Luckiest man in the world right now.

“Thanks Dr John Rooney. Your work is immaculate.”

Fans of the Working Class Man hitmaker were equally delighted by his latest health update, with many taking to the comment section to show their support.

“Great News Jimmy you certainly must have had a Great Surgeon, you did your Rehab Right & the Care & Love of dear Jane & your Family certainly was the best recovery. enjoy your trip, take care & stay Safe.”

“Congratulations good on mate so glad to hear things are so good and enjoy your holiday.”

“Fantastic news Jimmy, well done to your recovery & your Dr John Rooney for all the expertise in his work thank you so much you are a LEGEND. Enjoy your holiday Jimmy & Jane relax & keep up your exercises.”

“Well Done so happy for you. Congratulations Jane on all your hard work and cooking for Jimmy, you both enjoy your holiday.”

Barnes’ upcoming holiday isn’t the only thing he’s looking forward to. In early January the musician hinted at an upcoming new book.

“Jane got me a fancy chair, I feel like I’m in First class and it’s good for the recovery. I can sit here out of my bed and work on my new book,” he wrote on social media.

Since pulling the plug on his Australian tour, Barnes has regularly been keeping fans updated on his recovery from hip surgery, even kick-starting the new year with a significant milestone.

Barne had previously attributed his health woes to a lifetime of jumping around on stage, saying he “had niggling back and hip issues for years, but things suddenly got a lot worse” and was left “in constant and severe pain”.

The rocker had also stated that cancelling a show was against his religion but needed to “get this fixed so I can jump around onstage for another 50 years”.

There is currently no update on Barnes’ planned Australian tour dates.
