Jimmy Barnes teases fans with exciting new endeavour as he continues his recovery from major surgery

As singing sensation Jimmy Barnes continues to recover from his recent hip surgery, he has delighted fans by teasing his upcoming project.

Barnes was forced to undergo major surgery and cancel his upcoming Australian tour late last year after ongoing hip and back pain had left him in constant agony.

The singer attributed his health woes to a lifetime of jumping around on stage but was adamant about getting the issues fixed in order to continue rocking out with fans.

“I’ve been jumping off PA’s and stomping around stages for nearly 50 years, but it’s finally caught up with me,” Barnes said on social media.

“I’ve had niggling back and hip issues for years, but things suddenly got a lot worse over the last few weeks and I’m now in constant and severe pain.

“As everybody knows, it’s against my religion to blow out gigs but the Doctors tell me I need an operation as soon as possible and it will really limit my movement for a few months.

“As much as it kills me to inconvenience everyone, I have to get this fixed so I can jump around onstage for another 50 years.”

While discussing his recovery on social media, Barnes got fans talking when he hinted at an upcoming “new book”.

“Jane got me a fancy chair, I feel like I’m in First class and it’s good for the recovery. I can sit here out of my bed and work on my new book,” he wrote.

Barnes’ fans were quick to offer their best wishes to the Australian singing icon, while expressing their excitement at the prospect of another book from the 66 year old.

“Very spoilt. Continue to heal. A new book, looking forward to reading it,” one fan wrote.

“Hi Jimmy your looking better every day. Slow steps and the power of prayer. Jane has been awesome and with love, of taking care of you. Much love to you both.”

“Now that’s a book I’m looking forward to! Looking great Jimmy!”

“Ohhhh a new book I can’t wait.”

Despite undergoing an invasive procedure last year, Barnes marked the new year with a significant milestone, sharing that he can now walk up and down a flight of stairs.

“First day of the year and I can make it up to the top of the stairs and back down,” Barnes wrote in his post.

“What a great start to the new year.”

Barnes has made a committed effort to keep his fans in the loop regarding his recovery. In December last year, Barnes’ wife, Jane, gave fans a promising update on the singer’s condition following surgery, sharing a photo to social media of Barnes smiling while using a walking frame to help him stand.
