Jerry Hall officially files for divorce from media mogul Rupert Murdoch

American model and actress Jerry Hall, 66, has officially filed for divorce from billionaire media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, 91, after six years of marriage.

In a petition filed in the Superior Court of California, Hall cited “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for her decision to file for divorce from Murdoch.

According to Reuters, Hall is seeking “unspecified support and attorneys’ fees” from Murdoch, revealing she was not fully aware of her husband’s finances.

In the petition, Hall reportedly stated she was “unaware of the full nature and extent of all (Murdoch’s) assets and debts, and will amend this petition when the information has been ascertained”.

Fans wasted no time voicing their thoughts on the announcement, many using it as an opportunity to poke fun at the media mogul.

The couple first met in Australia in 2015 while Hall was touring with a production of The Graduate, before making their first public appearance together at the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham in London.

Hall and Murdoch were officially married in 2016, after just two months of dating, in a humble ceremony in central London’s Spencer House. At the time, Murdoch was 85 and Hall was 60.

The low-key event was witnessed by the couple’s children and close friends.

At the time, Murdoch took to Twitter to celebrate his nuptials, writing: “No more tweets for ten days or ever! Feel like the luckiest AND happiest man in the world.”

In 2017, the once happy couple were pictured looking infatuated with each other as they arrived at Evgeny Lebedev’s Christmas party in London.

Murdoch has been married a total of four times, tying the knot with first wife Patrica Booker in 1956 before divorcing in 1967 and getting married for a second time to Wendi Murdoch in 1999 before the couple divorced in 2013.

Murdoch then married Anna Murdoch Mann in 1967, however, it wasn’t third time lucky for the mogul as the couple divorced in 1999 before he finally married Jerry Hall in 2016. The billionaire businessman has a total of six children, sons Lachlan and James Murdoch, and daughters, Elisabeth, Grace, Chloe and Prudence Murdoch.

Hall famously married Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger in Bali in 1990, however, the marriage was declared null and void in 1999.
